Four recent stories from the FPV world, focused on what actually matters to hobby pilots: competition, new hardware, and digital video systems.
MultiGP European Championship 2026: Minjae Kim takes the crown in Germany
From September 11 to 13, the second MultiGP European Championship was held in Aichtal, Germany, with 108 pilots from 25 countries competing at Sportplatz SV07 Aich. South Korea’s Minjae Kim, already the reigning MultiGP World Cup champion, claimed the European title too, adding another trophy to a standout season ahead of names like defending champion Yuki Hashimoto of Japan, American Joaquin «JBOX» Ybanez, and France’s Killian Rousseau. A brutal level of competition that confirms international drone racing keeps growing every year.
DJI Neo 3: leaks point to an October-November launch
DJI hasn’t officially confirmed it yet, but Neo 3 certification filings are already in (with a production date of September 21), pointing to a launch window between October and November. Leaks suggest a weight of around 192.7 g, a larger camera sensor than the Neo 2’s capable of uncropped 4K at 60fps, plus improvements to battery life and wind resistance. If confirmed, it would be the third generation of DJI’s Neo line, its most accessible selfie-FPV drone.
Walksnail Moonlight Kit: back in stock as a DJI O3 alternative
Walksnail’s Moonlight kit -a compact camera-and-VTX combo compatible with the Avatar HD system- is back in stock this month after seasons of shortages. It offers 4K recording at 60fps with solid low-light detail and EIS/Gyroflow stabilization, positioning itself as a genuine alternative to the DJI O3 Air Unit for pilots who already own Avatar goggles or would rather not lock into the DJI ecosystem.
Dutch Drone Racing 2026: Keepy crowned at the season’s final race
The Dutch national championship final (NK Drone Racing) took place on September 5-6 at MVC Nederweert, closing out a season that stayed undecided right up to the last race. The pilot known as Keepy was crowned 2026 Dutch Champion after a tightly fought title battle — a sign of just how competitive the national FPV racing scene has become across Europe.
Wrap-up
Four very different stories with one common thread: competitive drone racing keeps drawing more pilots and a higher level every season, while digital video hardware (DJI, Walksnail) keeps evolving to deliver better image quality without complicating the build.
