After landing, point it at each motor, the ESC or the battery and in a second you know whether something is running too hot, without touching anything hot.

It measures from -50 to 600 °C with ±1.5 % accuracy and 0.1 °C resolution, and the laser pointer helps you aim exactly where you want. One motor much hotter than the rest usually points to a damaged bearing, a screw touching the windings or poorly set filters.

Laser thermometer specifications

Range: -50 to 600 °C

Accuracy: ±1.5 % or ±1.5 °C

Resolution: 0.1 °C

Distance to spot ratio: 12:1

Response: 500 ms

Celsius or Fahrenheit, auto power off after 20 s

Batteries: 2 × 1.5 V AAA, not included

It is also useful with batteries: a LiPo that comes back from a flight much hotter than usual is working at its limit or starting to fail. Let it cool before charging and, if it keeps happening, retire it. On the bench it helps check a soldering iron or a regulator that runs hot.

Frequently asked questions about the laser thermometer

What is a normal motor temperature?

What matters is comparing: all four motors should be similar. If one is much hotter, check it before flying again.

Are batteries included?

No, it runs on two AAA batteries that are not included.

More for your drone

Tools and accessories

Motors

Baterías y cargadores

FPV guides

Non-contact infrared thermometer with laser pointer: aim at the motor, ESC or battery and read the temperature on the screen.
