You skip the trickiest part, soldering the connector, and only need to join the ends where you need them.

This is the classic XT60 without a housing: a compact connector with a yellow body and XT60 moulded into the plastic.

12AWG wire is the usual gauge for the battery lead on 5-inch and larger drones: more copper and less voltage drop when the drone pulls a lot of current. With just 5 cm of wire, the connector sits right against the frame or ESC, with no spare wire hanging.

XT60 male 12AWG specifications

Connector: XT60 male

Wire: 12AWG silicone, red and black

Wire length: 5 cm

Ends: tinned, ready to solder

Contents: 2 connectors with wire

Male or female

The male has the pins and the female has the sockets: one always plugs into the other. Before cutting anything, check which connector your battery, drone or charger has and choose the opposite one.

Soldering tips

Mind the polarity: red is positive and black is negative. Tin the wire you are joining it to as well, solder quickly so the silicone does not overheat, and cover each joint with heat shrink.

XT60 male 12AWG FAQ

What does it plug into?

An XT60 female. XT60 and XT60H plug into each other: the housing does not change the mating part.

How much wire does it have?

5 cm of silicone wire pre-soldered to the connector, with tinned ends.

Is it OK for a 5-inch drone?

Yes: 12AWG is the gauge normally used for the battery lead on a 5-inch.

More for your drone

XT60H connector with 12AWG wire

Cables and connectors

FPV configurator

FPV guides

XT60 male connector pre-soldered to 5 cm of 12AWG red and black silicone wire, with tinned ends.
